Standards developed by EPISTLE

ISO 15926 "Integration of life-cycle data for process plants including oil and gas production facilities"

Background

The EPISTLE Core Model and the EPISTLE Reference Data Library are being standardized as ISO 15926. The original title of this standard was "Integration of life-cycle data for oil and gas production facilities"; however, this was amended to the form shown about in June 2000 reflecting the broad interests of EPISTLE participants and the applicability of the standard to all aspects of the process industries.

ISO 15926 consists of a number of separate documents ("Parts" in ISO terminology). The current set of parts is as follows:

  • Part 1, Overview and fundamental principles;
  • Part 2, Data model;
  • Part 4, Reference data;
  • Part 5, Procedures for registration and maintenance of reference data;
  • Part 6, Scope and representation for additional reference data.

Part 2 standardizes the EPISTLE Core Model; Part 4 will standardize the core EPISTLE Reference Data Library.

Status

Parts 1 and 2 of ISO 15926 were approved as ISO Committee Drafts in April 2000. Work on the Draft Internation Standard documentation for these parts was completed in August 2001; the Draft International Standard ballots are expected to start in September 2001 and to close in February 2002.

Drafts of the three remaining parts of ISO 15926 have been prepared for combined New Work Item/Committee Draft ballot (Parts 5 and 6) or for New Work Item ballot (Part 4). These ballots are expected to start shortly.

Further information is available on the ISO 15926 web site.
