ISO 18876 "Integration of industrial data for exchange, access, and sharing"

Background

ISO 18876, generally known as "IIDEAS" is an International Standard that is being developed within ISO TC184, SC4 Industrial data, WG10 Technical architecture. ISO 18876 is designed to satisfy the following high level requirements:

  • sharing and integration of data from multiple, heterogeneous sources;
  • interoperability between applications and organizations that implement different standards.

Although IIDEAS is applicable to any industry sector, it is particularly relevant to the work of EPISTLE as it defines an overall framework and architecture for the use of the EPISTLE Core Model, Reference Data Library, and Templates.

ISO 18876 consists of a number of separate documents ("Parts" in ISO terminology). The current set of parts is as follows:

  • Part 1, Architecture overview and description;
  • Part 2, Intergration and mapping methodology.

Status

Parts 1 and 2 of ISO 18876 have been circulated for Committee Draft ballot, starting on 2001-09-15 and closing on 2001-12-15.

Further information is available on the IIDEAS web site.
