Photos 14-17

All the photos are numbered on the maps on the page above.  Also, I have added a detailed map at the bottom of the page showing the area east of Vaulx where photos 14 - 17 were taken.

 

 

14. Lagnicourt trench and the sunken road.  This is looking north.  The trench was to the right of the road. My grandfather’s battalion also passed through this trench.

 

 

15.  This is the area of Dunelm Trench, standing on the sunken road looking west.  It can be seen on the map below, almost top right.

 

 

16. Vaulx cemetery.  On the map it is bottom left, in square 26, north of the road heading north-east to Vaulx Trench.

 

 

17. Looking east from Vaulx Trench to Lagnicourt

 

 

The CO’s report for my grandfather’s battalion mentions their having been in Dunelm and Lagnicourt trenches in the top right of the map.
