26th December 2007: Aunty Margaret Barrett has died in Bolton. Our thoughts are with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

June 2007: On a recent visit to Norfolk Russ & Anne were given a picture of a scarecrow by Beryl! You might also find a picture of another odd arab that you can compare with the one further back down the picture page! See Picture in the Picture Gallery.

March 2007: Daniel Palmer has jsut left for a round the world backpacking trip, going via the Pacific islands to New Zealand, then Australia beofre returning by rail from Singapore through Malaya, Thailand, Viet Nam, China, Mongolia and Russia. January 2007: Chrismas and New Year Greetings have been sent in by Rob (Osama) and Beryl and Karen & family from Oz. Happy New Year Everybody! Jay and Gina have also sent in a picture of their recent trip to Turkey. See Picture in the Picture Gallery.

November 2006: Russ is in touch with Leslie and Margaret's grandson Timothy, (Susan's son) keeping us up to date with the Bolton dynasty. I have also just been exchanging emails with Michael and his mother Nancy Eden who is the grandaughter of William Barrets sister Daisy May.

August 2006: In August Russ, Anne, Lesley and John met up with Robin, Beryl, Bill and Shirley in Kings Lynn. We also ran into 'Osama' Bennington! See Picture in the Picture Gallery.

AUGUST 2006:Daniel Palmer has now been awarded a BA from Sheffield and plans to go to Nottingham to study for an MA in Journalism. Russ has just completed the Hadrain's Wall long distance footpath of almost 90 miles with his old walking pal.

7th May 2006:Well done Rob and Beryl. They phoned on May 7th to keep the family news circulating. They report that everybody in Lynn is in the pink! Now lets hear from some more of you!

24th September 2005: Uncle Leslie Barrett has died in Bolton. Our thoughts are with Margaret and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On September 23rd, his birthday, the funeral took place at the Overbridge Crematorium Bolton and was attended by a large number of the family. The family gathered afterwards at a local club. A collection was taken for the Lifeboats which Les and Margaret had always supported.

30th May 2005: Russ has just returned from 10 days in the States visiting Luff relatives! Over 100 of them gathered from all over the States for a family reunion in Indiana. They are all related through great uncles of Nan and Russ was the first contact they have had with England since the 19th Century. 14th May 2005: Stan Barrett -only son of Aunt Vere & Walter Barrett died suddenly on Thursday May 12th .

8th May 2005: Karen & Vince are back in touch. Karen writes "We have now been here over a year, how time flies! We love it here, no regrets whatsoever. We live out "in the bush" according to the Aussies, but to us in the country. It is a lovely place with glorious views of the mountains. We have a four bedroomed house standing on 1/2 acre with an inground pool ( luxury ! ) We have lovely neighbours. Kyle is happy in school. Vince, Aaron, Becky and I all have jobs. 14th January 2005: Russ has been contacted by Steve Smith and his wife Annette Luff , one of the Long Sutton Luffs. Her great great grandparents were Moses and Caroline (nee Arnold). Her fathers name is Leslie Moses Luff.

14th December 2004: A Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year to all the family.

14th November 2004: Russ has just met up with Mary (Ruby's grandaughter) and John Preston, Cissie's grandson who lives in Reading.

18th October 2004: Rob and Beryl have just returned from a caravan trip to France taking in a canoe marathon on the Dordogne. Now Beryl is gallivanting off to Florida to see her niece leaving poor old Rob to the harsh Norfolk winter. So its a party at Rob's place on November 1st but try and keep the noise down!. Expect to see pictures of Beryl with Mickey Mouse some time soon!

3rd October 2004: Molly the daughter of Ruby Luff has just been discovered! Russ and Anne went to meet her at her daughter Mary's in Reading recently. They also know of one of Cissie Luff's grandchildren living nearby.See Pictures in the Picture Gallery.

September 2004: Russ, Anne & Daniel have just returned from a trip to South America, fantastic place! Not much news from the rest of the family, anybody out there?. This site has now been operating for almost 3 years!See Pictures in the Picture Gallery.

July 2004: Russ has just completed a 90 mile backpack walk along the Dalesway in Yorkshire and Cumbria with his old school friend Graham.See Pictures in the Picture Gallery.

June 6th 2004: Russ , Anne and Anne's sister were in Normandy during the 60th commemoration of D-Day. Russ & Lesley's Dad Bob landed at Arromanche in June 1944. See Pictures in the Picture Gallery.

March 27th 2004: Vince, Karen and family gathered friends and relatives in Thorrington to bid them farewell before they departed for Australia. See Pictures in the Picture Gallery.

March 2004: Russ has made contact with some LUFF ancestors living in Indianna, USA. They are descended from Nan's great uncle who came from Gedney and went to the States in the 19th Century. 90 members of the extended family are living there today! February 23rd 2004: Karen has written in again, they are now all set to depart for Oz! "Dear Russ & Anne, How are you keeping ? We are all fine. Happy New Year. Well we have finally got around to booking our flights to Australia. We fly out on Sunday 18th April, Can't wait ! We are holding a leaving party in our village hall on Sat 27th March, hope you will be able to come. I will send you an invite in the post. I have been a regular visitor on the family link. How is it now you have retired from work? Well must dash as I have loads of letters to write. Hope to see/hear from you soon Bye for now Karen XX"

December 23rd 2003: Russ and Anne celebrate Silver :See Picture

December 2003 Russ has decided to call a halt to full-time work in the education system after 14 years as a headteacher and 32 years in teaching. See picture!

October 2003 A few members of the family gathered at Heacham in Norfolk to place a few flowers and the ashes of Phyllis into the sea. It was a place she always loved dearly. It was a year to the day after the death of her sister Joan. A rainbow developed as the little ceremony took place.

September 25th Isobelle, Cristian & Tash's 2 year old, is currently having a series of tests and ops at the London Middlesex to sort out her 'clicky hip'.

August 2003. Daniel Palmer has achieved excellent grades in his A levels and leaves home for Sheffield University in September.

June 26th 2003 Karen has written in! Hi Russ Just logged on to the family Link. I was most impressed with the 'update'. The photo's of dear little Isobelle were gorgeous. We are only one step away from Australia !! A bit scarey !! Basically our medicals and police checks were fine and we have just been asked to deposit some money into an Aussie bank, so it looks fairly certain that we should hear soon ,one way or another, so fingers crossed !! January 11th 2003 Karen & Rebecca share a birthday surprise!

On Saturday January 11th Angela was lured to a birthday party! She thought it was for Karen's daughter Rebecca who has just reached the grand old age of 18! It was, but it was also to mark Angela's half-centrury! A good crowd enjoyed a buffet and disco at Great Bentley Village Hall. See the picture gallery for the photos!

October 2002 Joan Bennington died Kings Lynn aged 87

August 2002 Phyllis Wisbey (Palmer) died in Braintree aged 80

March 2002 Sheila Bines died Colchester aged 73

January 2002 Bob Palmer died in Braintree aged 83.

Lillian Joan Bennington nee' Luff, born 1915, died October 2002, aged 87, cremation at Kings Lynn Friday 1st November 2002. The service was attended by a large number of family and friends including, children Shirley (& Bill), Robin (& Beryl) and Sally (&Tony), and numbers of Joan's grandchildren and their partners. Her close family placed single red flowers on the coffin. Other family members included, Margaret & David, Annette & Melvyn, Meryl & Paul, Russell & Anne, Lesley, Karen, Angela, Nigel & Jane. There were also numbers of Joan's close friends, including 'Lammy' her neighbour, and nurses who attended Joan in recent months. A large number returned to Shirley and Bill's after the service. Several of the family made a last visit to 18 De Gray Rd, Joan and Reg's home for over 50 years.

Phyllis Wisbey, formerly Palmer, nee' Barrett, born 1921, died peacefully in her sleep on August 15th 2002 aged 80. A large number of family and friends attended the funeral at Chelmsford Crematorium, including Rusell, Lesley, John , Anne, Nicky, Cristian, Tasha, Jay, Tasha, Daniel, sister 'Aunty' Joan, Robin, Bill, Shirley, Annette, Angela, Margaret , David and friends from the ATS and Braintree. Russell read the Eulogy to his mum.

Memorial cards included the following messages; In Loving Memory of our dear Mum with us always from Russ Anne Les John Safe in our hearts..................In Loving Memory Joan x ..........Dear Nan and great Nan loved always from Cris Natasha Jay Natasha Nicky Daniel and Isobelle .........Treasured Memories of our dear Auntie always in our thoughts forever in our hearts Love and Miss You Sandra Angela Karen and all our families...We will always remember with much love a very special Auntie Phyll your vivacity and beautiful laugh will always be missed.
