10 Apr 08 We would like to register our appreciation of the Welcome Pack delivered to our door recently. We have lived here for 24 years so hardly needed welcoming, but the information in, and layout of, the leaflet impressed us, and we did find a few new facts of interest ! Its a really useful reference for names, addresses, phone numbers etc. MANY thanks to all the people who have put effort into this project. Roy & Ann Procter 24 October 06 - You might like to know that 17 High Street residents met last Thursday night ( 19th October ) to discuss the Parish Council's proposals for a pinch point outside Prospect House. Three councillors and the parish clerk also attended. None ( 0 ) of the residents voted yes when asked "Do you consider speeding traffic to be a serious enough problem in the High Street to warrant permanent road structures", although some residents did consider that speeding was an issue of concern. All of the residents considered that traffic volume and size / weight were issues of varying levels of concern. When asked if they supported the Parish Council's proposals for the pinch point, 9 residents voted against pinch points in any part of the village and 6 said that they either wanted or would accept pinch points on the village boundaries ( 2 others abstained ). Belinda Simson suggested that a "traffic study group" be formed to consider all aspects of traffic throughout the village and report back to the Parish Council. Tony Elbourn 14 October 06 - Crown Pet Foods intend to ship a quarter of a million tons of ingredients and pet food into and out of their factory in Castle Cary each year, all of it by road. This will involve thousands of heavy lorry movements, some of which will come through Keinton. Surely we have too many HGVs using High Street and Castle Street as a shortcut already ? It's time to get a weight limit through the whole village ! Tony Elbourn
