The Parish Council is an autonomous local authority within the meaning of various acts of parliament. It is composed of representatives elected by the people of the parish to make decisions and speak on their behalf. It is a corporate body which means it exists as a legal entity, which is distinct from the rights and responsibilities of individual members.

Keinton Mandeville Parish Council has 9 members and meets on the first Tuesday of every month in the village hall at 7.30pm. Minutes and agendas of the meetings are displayed on the Parish notice board situated on the side of the village shop as well as on notice boards at the church and village hall foyer.

Christmas Tree Service

The Parish Council was delighted to see over 40 people at this year’s Christmas Tree Service. Thanks must go to AJ and Helen for being so accommodating and having the tree outside the shop, and also to Rev Trev Cranshaw for leading a lovely service. In addition, many thanks to Dave and Sue who welcomed everyone back to the Quarry Inn for mulled wine and mince pies.

Youth Council

At December’s meeting some lads who had been taking part with the youth bus activities came to the PC meeting to present some ideas about what is required for the young people of the village. The Parish Council is hoping to discuss theses ideas further in the near future. In the meantime, it is hoped a youth council will be set up. It is proposed that it will meet on the first Tuesday of each month (before the Parish Council meeting.) If you have a youngster who may be interested in this, please encourage them to come along, or bring them along yourself. January 6th 2009, 6.30pm at the village hall (committee room)
