Societies

Playing field

The playing field is situated towards the end of Castle Street (towards Lydford) on the left hand side.  The facilities include a play area for all ages, a picnic area, tennis court, football and rounders pitches and basketball court.  Tearooms are available for hire for parties or any other function. Tennis

The village has an excellent hard tennis court in very good condition.  The court is on the playing field site and is kept locked.  Regular players can be issued with a key on payment of a modest annual subscription.  Casual players may obtain a key from the village stores for which payment is made by the hour.  In the summer months a booking system is operated.  More information and membership can be obtained through David Walton.

Football

The village has two men’s teams (reserves and 1st teams) who take part in the premier and second division of the Yeovil and District league.  The season runs from September to April, with pre season training commencing in July.  Home matches take place at the village playing fields.  Further information contact Alan Cox 01458 223896

Skatepark

There is a skate park situated to the side of the Village Hall.

Walking

There are numerous registered footpaths and variety of walks within the Parish, these are signposted and have stiles where needed.

Swimming and Gymnasium

There are indoor and outdoor pools and a Leisure Centre in Street as well as an indoor pool and Leisure Centre in Yeovil.  The indoor pool in Street has a gymnasium and sauna.  Pre paid or season tickets are necessary for early morning (8am) sessions.

Brownies

Cubs Beavers and Scouts

1st Barton St David BP Scout Group Boys and girls from 5 upwards are welcome in their two Beaver colonies; from seven and a half in their two wolf cub packs, and from 11 in their Scout Troop.  Contact Mrs Anne Wilson Scouts

Sea Scout Troop

A group for boys aged 10 and a half to 17 years concentrating on all aspects of traditional scoutcraft- hiking, camping, map reading, with the addition of expeditions / summer camp using our own canoes, kayaks and sailing dinghies.  From the age of 14, boys are encouraged to follow the Duke Of Edinburgh Award scheme working with team leaders and on their own initiative.  The groups has recently had 9 boys achieve D of E gold awards.  Any interested parties should come to the village hall on Monday evenings 7.30-9.15pm to give it a try.

Women's Institute

The Keinton Mandeville WI meets on the third Thursday of each month in the Methodist Rooms, Queen Street at 7.30pm.

A friendly group of ladies of all ages meet for a pleasant evening, either with a speaker or just a social event.  Any new members welcome, please come along. Mothers Union

Keinton & District Mothers' Union is a branch of the World Wide M.U. caring for families.  We meet on the 1st. Thursday of each month at 7.30pm.  Details, venues etc. in Parish Magazine. Contact Brenda Gray 01458 223 097 themothersunion.org

Keinton Mandeville Parent and Toddlers

Meet every Wednesday 10am-12 noon in the Methodist church rooms.  Everyone is welcome, come along for a cuppa while the children play with old and new friends. Children range from birth to school age.  Contact  01458 224593

Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones is a mother and toddler group, run every Tuesday at Keinton Mandeville Village Hall between 9.45 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Everyone is welcome, from "mums with bumps" to pre-school children, with refreshments provided for all.

The Playhouse Toy and Equipment Library

There is an open drop in on the first Tuesday of every month (except January) from 315pm-4pm at Keinton Mandeville Village Hall for people to view and exchange toys and or baby / toddler equipment. After an initial membership fee all loans are free except a few specialised items.  Open to individuals or groups.  There are also specialised toys available for party hire.  Contact Anne-Marie Hamerslag 01458 223820 email theplayhousekm@aol.com

Sir Henry Irving Club

Senior Citizens Sir Henry Irving Club

Friday Club

Friday Club is a youth club for 10 - 14 year olds, which is run by the Methodist Church for young people from Keinton Mandeville and the surrounding villages. We meet every Friday during term-time from 7.30 - 9.00. Activities vary depending on the time of year, and include table tennis, air hockey, snooker in the winter months. In the summer we make use of the playing field for various sports. Contact Mike Plush on 01458 223305

Lydford Short Mat Bowls Club

We play every Thursday at the Village Hall from 7 - 9pm.

Players of all abilities are welcome including beginners/novices. Come along and enjoy a social evening playing bowls!
