Welcome to Alan's home page

Alan Sol PelicanoOn these pages you will be able to find out about Meccano, my professional work, Maldon and Great Waltham, Essex, where we lived for over 30 years. Navigate the links on the left to find out more.

We live in Maldon, Essex an ancient market town on the river Chelmer and Blackwater.. Maldon is one of oldest recorded towns in England with a history stretching back to Roman times. The town is most famous for the Battle of Maldon in 991 when the Saxons lead by Byrthnoth, an Essex nobleman, were heroically defeated by attacking Vikings. Today the town is known for the Thames sailing barges moored at the Hythe Quay, the historic High Street, Market Hill, Maldon sea salt works, The Regatta and the annual mud race held around Christmas time.

I work from home as a Graphic Design Consultant. I am married to Anne, we have two grown up sons Daniel and Dominic. Dan is married to Canadian, Jayme, they both live and work in Alberta Canada.
Dominic is married to Andrea, also from Canada where they were married in October 2001.

My hobbies and interests are: Meccano model building, gardening, designing and maintaining these web pages, walking, travel, photography, swimming, making bread, sketching, collecting old toys. I like to listen to the Blues and Jazz. Much of my time recently has been spent renovating our house in Maldon and creating a new garden after four and a half years of work the house project is completed. The garden? Well as any gardener will tell you its never finished.
