Morse Code sounder

GPO Morse-Code sounder

(General Post Office)

Circa 1930

This piece of equipment was used to give the distinctive 'Clickety-click' sound in response to an incoming Morse code message. Other than GPO stamped on the base, this sounder has no identifying marks. I don't know much about the use of Morse Code within the General Post Office, and the quoted date is a guess (I saw an old magazine advert selling the exact same model and used it's publication date as a guide).
