- VERY VEGGIE AUTUMN FAIR (25TH OCTOBER 2008)
This event runs from 10am to 3:15pm. Exhibitors include:
The Vegan Society, Animal Aid, Transition Leicester, League Against Cruel
Sports, Leicestershire Vegetarian/Vegan Group, Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane
Research, Leicester Badger Group, Leicester Wildlife Hospital, Blue Lotus,
Handsome Devil T-shirts and Love Foods. There'll also be face painting,
henna tattooing and fantastic vegan food to buy - everything from vegan
fish and chips to organic fruit and veg. Plus talks, a raffle, a rummage
room and vegan cafe. Entrance remains at 50p for adults and children are

- WEST MIDLANDS VEGAN FESTIVAL (1ST NOVEMBER 2008)
Celebrate World Vegan Day in style at the West
Midlands Vegan Festival in Wolverhampton. There`ll be lots of delicious
vegan food & 40+ stalls offering cruelty-free clothes, toiletries,
cosmetics, campaign info etc. Also a full programme of speakers, films,
cookery demos, entertainment, raffles, a vegan speed meeting/dating
session, presentation of the Vegan Society Awards and much more... The
festival is being held at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in the city centre,
10 minutes walk from the train/bus stations. See our website for a map, directions,
car parks and further details. The festival will be open from 11am
- 5pm. Admission is just £1, payable at the door (under 16's free).

- THE BRISTOL INCREDIBLE VEGGIE ROADSHOW (29TH
NOVEMBER 2008)
This event will run from 10.30 am-4.30
pm and will be held at the Broadmead Baptist Church (next to Broadmead

mix of all things vegan and best of all its all in aid of Vegfam,
to try and raise awareness of their Gimme 5 campaign which started this

material made up of 1,680 drawings of animals. The significance of the '1680'
pertains to the number of animals that are slaughtered by the meat and

- SUNDAY CHANTS IN HYDE PARK -

RUNNERS - A vegan club that aims to promote
veganism throughout the UK through participation in open events
as advertised in athletics and running magazines. Free membership.
Members will be encouraged to enter events of their choice and
further ideas will be provided by the organiser. Events generally
vary in length from 5 km to half a marathon and are therefore suitable

22 years in metal cages no bigger than their own bodies? They are milked
daily for their bile.

MONITOR CLIMATE CHANGE - If you

DETECTIVES, which is a newly launched phenology programme for

- THE VEGAN HEALTH
STUDY - The Institute of Nutrition
Education and Research is looking for both vegan
and non-vegan volunteers to fill in a questionnaire. The purpose
of this study (which is overseen by Dr Michael Klaper) is to
increase understanding of the health effects of plant-based nutrition.

APPEAL - Support the World Society for the
Protection of Animals in their valuable work to end the medieval
torture of thousands of bears who are kept in tiny cages on
China's bear farms and 'milked' for their bile, a torment that
can continue for 5-10 years until their bile dries up. A regular gift
