Habitat: Heavy soil. Will grow on shady or exposed sites.

Habit: Hardy, evergreen, shrub with spiny leaves.

Flower Colour: Flowers small and white. Red berries.

Planting Time: By cuttings and stratified seeds.

Food Plant for: Holly Blue caterpillars. Prune holly in late summer or spring to avoid injury to the larvae!

Food Plant for: Birds, (Blackbirds particularly) like the red berries. A good nest site as cat-proof and prickly.
