Fullwood's are first recorded as living in the Halesowen, Dudley and Sedgley areas around 1580. It has not been verified whether these first FULLWOOD settlers in Staffordshire originated from a Warwickshire FULWOOD family or from another branch.
Sedgley Within Staffordshire, there are more FULLWOOD families recorded as living in and around the town of Sedgley than in any other part of the County. Further information about the town of Sedgley can be seen at Ian Beach's - Ancient Manor of Sedgley web page (including Diseases & Medical Terms for Genealogists).
Bilston Several generations of my own family came from Bilston with the earliest verified births occurring around 1730. However, in a Staffordshire Visitation record, there is a marriage entry (c. 1604) of a Ratsull FULLWOOD of Warwickshire to Caterina HOO daughter of William HOO of Bradley, Bilston. The HOO's were a wealthy family credited with interests in quarrying, mining and glass making during the 17th century.
It has not yet been verified whether Ratsull FULLWOOD went back to Warwickshire or stayed in the Bradley, Coseley or Bilston areas to establish a new branch of the FULLWOOD family.
Bilston Census records for FULLWOOD's from 1851 and 1881 indicates the majority of occupations given were in the Tin plate and Japanware manufacturing industries. Photographs and general information about Bilston is available from this web site.
