Summertime in Tuscany

We went to Italy in June 2000 and had a wonderful time (as usual)!

We stayed in an old farmhouse about an hour's north of Pisa.

A roadside family photo on a gorgeous day.

We visited a ceramics fair and Sooz was as pretty as the artworks!

The nearest big town was the delightfully named Poggibonsi and we visited the market there.

We had a wonderful day in the village of
San Gimigniano.

A view of Tuscany from the highest point in town.

Remarks about fava beans and Chianti are appropriate here.

San Gimigniano was as beautiful at night as it was in the day.

We went to Siena and the main square was being covered in dirt for the upcoming Palio, a horse race dating back hundreds of years.

Here's a family photo from atop the bell tower in Siena.

We drove to the beach at the also delightfully named Bibbona, which Grant enjoyed greatly.

Lots of great food in beautiful settings. Sooz' Italian skills were much appreciated.

We were told by locals they had a tower in Pisa so we took a look at it.

In Milan, they may not build as high, but at least the Duomo isn't leaning!
