The Saharan president, Mohamed Abdelaziz, is to hold talks with the Spanish foreign minister [Abel Matutes].
These talks will deal with the developments of the situation in the Western Sahara and the role which Madrid can play in the implementation of the peace process. The details of this file are with Wahiba Benchiheb [reporter].
[Benchiheb] The talks between the Saharan president and the Spanish minister, Abel Mutates, comes after the approval by the UN fourth commission for a resolution on the Western Sahara decolonization issue.
This resolution, which was approved by 57 states including Algeria, focuses on the importance and schedule of direct talks between the Polisario Front and Morocco in order to overcome their differences and provide suitable conditions for an effective and rapid implementation of the settlement plan.
After that endorsement the UN encouraged the Moroccan Kingdom and the Polisario Front to start direct negotiations as soon as possible. The call for organizing direct negotiations between the two parties in the conflict reflects the firm commitment and will of the international community to make the Western Sahara peace plan succeed . That plan reached an impasse because of the Moroccan acts of prevarication.
The Saharan presidential adviser, Mr Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, expressed the satisfaction of his government with this great support expressed by the international community towards the Western Sahara issue.
