Most of Tess' ancestors are trained gundogs. There are several Field Trial Champions (F.T.CH.) among them, and just take a look at those names! Shadow, Shot, Kite, Knighthawk, Breeze. It is easy to visualize these sleek black creatures running like arrows across the Scottish moors, retrieving game for their hunter masters.
But Tess is not a gundog. She is a "trained" pet, and will never have to work.
