Development

The backplate is made of a piece of mild steel 150 x 40 x 5 mm. The two horizontal pieces are 50 x 40 x 5 mm. the rod is made of stainless steel to stop it rusting with the other parts. the small washer with the grubscrew is made of brass. the backplate for the holding loop is mild steel 75 x 40 x 5 mm. the loop is mild steel 6mm diameter x 80 mm long. the backplate and horizontals are welded together and so are the loop and plate.

Gate catch. The gate pushes up the stainless steel rod (pushing back the spring) The spring then returns the rod to catch the gate. To release the gate the plastic ball has to be pulled upwards.
