The club welcomed a visitor from Australia on 17 October. George Lithgow, who is very active in chess in Newcastle, New South Wales, was passing the club, saw the juniors in action and came in for a chat, a cup of tea and a couple of games.
We hope this contact might lead to a friendly internet or e-mail match between Lanark and a club or individual chess players from Australia.
