The Eagley Jazz Club was founded over twelve years ago by
Bernard Callaghan at the Eagley Sports and Leisure Club in Bromley Cross, Bolton. The jazz club prospered quickly and offered its members quality traditional jazz presented by some of this countries top bands plus a considerable number of jazz musicians from abroad.
At the beginning of 2001, Bernard had to find a new home for the jazz sessions, and was most fortunate in obtaining a new venue at the Dunscar Conservative Club, Hardmans Lane, Bromley Cross, less than a mile from the old club. The sessions are now held in Dunscars beautifully appointed concert room twice a month on the first and third Mondays from 8.30pm onwards, with occasional "specials" in months containing five Mondays.
The club has continued to grow from strength to strength and because of the administration involved it was decided to form a small committee to run its affairs.
Eagley is now regarded as one of the top jazz clubs in the north of England.
