The New Riverside Jazz Band is still functioning, following the sad loss of Delia, and now Malcolm, and the earlier retirement of Keith, through ill-health. Ralph Wilson, a highly talented drummer and singer, has replaced Keith, and we are currently working with a number of old friends on bass, pending the arrival of Jack Maudsley (Sousaphone and double bass), whom we expect to join us in the near future.
The band is still working on the first, third, and occasional fifth Thursdays of the month at the George and Dragon on St. George's Quay in Lancaster. The repertoire, large as it is, was sadly depleted by Delia's tragic death, but we continue to expand it in other directions.
We are intensely grateful for the continued enthusiasm and encouragement of our regular supporters, who have helped us survive our recent difficulties, and helped in keeping jazz alive in Lancaster. (And at the Outgate, of course.)
I would like to express my personal thanks to all who have contributed their support in these difficult times and for all the heartfelt tributes paid to Delia and Malcolm.
