Jennie Cassidy - Voice Jacob Heringman - Lute Philip Thorby – Viol/recorder
Since its formation in 1991 Frottola has performed at major venues and festivals throughout the United Kingdom and recorded for BBC Radio 3. Frottola’s concerts are entertaining and engaging for many types of audience. This is because the programmes tell a story or explore a theme, engaging them in the dramatic aspects of its programmes. The group is known for its beautiful and direct performance of high quality of the music. The members of Frottola perform internationally as soloists and with major early music groups including The King's Consort, The English Baroque Soloists, The Taverner Consort, Musica Antiqua of London, The Harp Consort, The Gabrielli Choir, Psalmody and The New London Consort.
The French Ambassadors The group worked with the National Gallery to create a mixed-media concert called 'The French Ambassadors' based on Holbein’s painting of that name. As part of the gallery's celebration exhibition of the painting's restoration, the concert was performed in the Sainsbury Wing of the Gallery. Love is a Bable The love debate in Frottola's programme 'Love is a Bable' was performed in the Radio 3 series Music Restored, the York Early Music Festival and at St John's, Smith Square. Frottola have just produced their first CD released March 1999 on the Meridian label, ref. CDE 84397, ‘The French Ambassadors’. You can order a copy from our e-mail address. |
