It is very tempting to get sidetracked at this point and write about the subsequent history of 'battalion' type photographs, of which our 'whole school' photographs are one example of many. Suffice it to say that any negatives of these which have survived (and none pre-date the 1960s) are to be found in a national photographic archive in Manchester. But nobody has the technology to take prints from them. The message has to be, therefore, to guard any such prints you may have with your lives!

As you might expect the most complete collection is to be found at school. The dates of those on display are: 1919, 1921, 1926, 1930, 1934, 1939, 1946, 1954, 1959, 1961, 1964, 1981, 1983, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004.
