Custom Mounting Plates
Last year (2006) I had a set of 7 aluminum plates machined and drilled which would enable me to mount some of my longer lenses securely to my EQ mount via the accessory plate (on the right in the photo below) that came with the mount. I designed them to be modular, and to be as flexible as possible. They can be used in various combinations, primarily to hold my 180/2 and 600/4 lenses with or without teleconverters, but with some juggling around, and possibly a few more minor modifications/additions, I should be able to accommodate most other long optics which I might add to my collection in the future. The base plate (bottom left) has room left to the side to mount the all important guide scope. They have yet to be tested in the field, and I'm still trying to figure out how I intended the 600mm lens to be mounted with them (should have made some notes back in 2006!), but I'm sure they will be just fine!
