WEB Count for
August 2006 Highlights:10th to 15th August
Despite a lot of disturbance on the estuary due to the holiday traffic the monthly count was quite productive
The Amble Marshes had 2 Green Sands, 5 Garganey, 3 Egrets, 9 L.Grebe, 4 Teal, 21 Moorhen (inc yg) plus others species.
Clapper Marsh at Egloshayle held, 6 Green Sands, 1 Wood Sand, 8 Com. Sand, 3 Egrets, 1 Heron, 2 L.Grebe, 4 Mutes, 6 Snipe plus others.
The River between Clapper and Wadebridge…. 1 Wood Sand (could be the one from Clapper), 2 Com Sand plus others
Reed Beds at the back of Lidls Supermarket: 1 Spotted Crake on Monday the 14th, calling.
On the Estuary, Wadebridge to Padstow: Egrets 77, Heron 13, Mute Swan 50, Canada Geese 42, (129 note in adjacent field), Oystercatcher 288, G Ring Plover 11, Dunlin 5, Black tailed Godwit 2, Ruff 1, Curlew 248, Redshank 67, Greenshank 16, Com Sand 4, Med. Gull 1, Com Gull 7, plus others.
Outer Estuary was far to busy to hold birds, but out in the bay Gannets could be seen. Also passing Rumps Point a few Manx Shearwaters. Would have been better if wind had been more westerly.
