These are my fathers Army Service Records. On the first page is his service number, where and what regiment he signed up for, the date, and a record of where he served. The date of joining the "Loyal Regiment" on the 5th June 1939. |

On the second page a record and comments regarding his service, the assessment he was given regarding his service is "Exemplary" this could only be given to those that served more than six years Headquarters of the 'Loyal's' was at Fullwood Barracks, Preston. It was formed in the year 1600 in Scotland as part of the 47th FOOT. The regimental quick march is the "RED ROSE" by Robert BURNS, and was involved in the 'CRIMEA WAR' amongst others It was originally the 4th of FOOT Rifles Regiment and has as part of its badge a Red Patch with the title 'TOBRUK' after its involvement the Desert war in the Second World War While in the "Loyals" he was volunteered duties with MI5(r) and "Special Operations Executive" or SOE for short at station 10 Aston House. As you will have read in "Mission Scapula" it explains how this "volunteering" happened. During his service in SOE he developed his own personal motto "If it moves salute it, ......if it doesn't blow it up" |
