Obviously APD are the best place for your normal supplies. The service is first rate and very prompt, but here I hope to highlight some other bits that may help you out

Synthetic Chamois

Drying the head out

£4 for a 1 m square sheet, this is excellent for drying out the head and the unit after use. Cheapest way to get it is to go into one of the pet superstores and get synthetic cat litter tray liner. I've seen the same stuff on sale for up to £20 for a metre square. A small square will dry the head out several times over and the towel can be wrung out and dried very quickly and easily. Its strong enough to poke into the smallest corners

Heres what it is

Moisture AbsorbMoisture Absorb

Much better than carrying a role of kitchen towel or raiding the toilets for tissue

Hose Clamp Tools

The picture shows both methods of undoing those pesky hose clamps. The first is the standard broom handle end in soft wood with 2 grooves in the end. this works well but the grooves slowly widen and wear

Hose removal tools

The lower device is purpose made  and supplied by Elite Diver Training in Suffolk http://www.elitedivertraining.com it does the job brilliantly and wont wear or damage the ends, The handle can be moved to give more leverage. Recommended. (anyone know a good excuse for why my mums broom handle is 6"'s shorter?)

Travelling Case

APD now do a new grey case that is larger than the original green case and much more suitable. Its £36 which is a bargain and the unit drops in easily with room to spare. I've lined my case with the synthetic chamois mentioned above to soak up any water

Dymo LetraTag Labeller

Dymo Letratag labeller

Where would I be without mine. Great for labelling everything and salt water resistant. The yellow plastic tape is the one to go for. As you can tell from all the pics, everything of mine has been labelled. Especially useful when pumping tanks, I analyse and label mine straight away. My local Dive shop have since bought one as well after seeing mine in action. They are about £25 and the tape is about £4 for a metre

Its great for analysing and labelling tank contents

Inspiration Tools

There are some tools that are specific to the Inspiration and that you will require to be able to service it

Inspiration Tools

At 12o/c we have the tool for removing the sensor holder from the scrubber head. This comes with the unit

At 3o/c we have the intermediate pressure gauge for testing the O2 and Air interstage pressures (A very important thing to test). You'll notice I have labelled mine with the correct pressures so I don't have to look it up. This comes with the unit

At 6o/c we have the special tool for removing and tightening the lung T pieces. This is an additional purchase and costs about £9 from APD, its almost impossible to do the T pieces without it

At 10o/c we have a third party hose removal tool as detailed above

Inspiration Spares

You will need a good selection of spares to look after your Turtle

Inspiration Spares

I keep a good set of O rings, Scrubber scrim, Hose and hose fittings, buckles, clips, an spare solenoid and over pressure relief valve.

More Inspiration tools

You'll also need a good selection of tools and Oxygen compatible grease (I use Fomblin as it does seem a better lube than some O2 greases) Its about £30 for a 100g tube from Forward Diving in Poole

Some decisions may seem strange, like ordering a 20Kg Sofnolime and the 2 smaller ones, but I decant the big container into the smaller ones and then take them away at weekends as they are a much more convenient size. I've also seen folks use 2L Coke bottles as Scrubber holders

I have found APD to be very helpful and prompt on deliveries

Handset Covers by Matt Robinson at MR Diving

I have a set of these and they are superb. Quality is first rate and everything has been thought out well, You can even open a flap and operate your handsets while these are still on

They are available in Red or Yellow padded cordura and include velcro and zip fixing and a top attachment line to enable the handsets to be clipped to the top handle and hence kept off the floor. You can also use this to attach the handset to the boat while your diving so they re still there when you get back

Here you can see the handset inside the padded bag and also that the display and buttons are accessible while in the cover. In this picture the red covers are 4 years old so you can see they stand up to use well

They even go over my neoprene wet covers!!

Priced at £40 these are a sound investment to the longevity of your handsets and heartily recommended. Contact Matt at MR Diving for more details

Inspiration Soft Cover by Matt Robinson at MR Diving

Made by the same folks that make the handset covers comes a full soft cover bag for your unit

The bag covers the unit with room to spare and the padded Cordura construction will save it a few knocks and bumps

The bag also has 3 extra pockets for your bits and bobs

Again recommended for storage of the unit and its bits
