How does Mike Hodges, writer of the screenplay, come up with so many witty and memorable one-liners? These are in no particular order, but you can vote for your favorite by mailing Carter and the results will be listed in due course.
1) Carter goes into the bar after arrivng at Newcastle and orders a drink, clicks his fingers and says 'In a thin Glass'.
2)Carter at the race track takes Eric Pace's sunglasses off and says ' You know Eric, I'd almost forgotten what your eyes look like. They're still the same, Piss holes in the snow'.
3)When Con and Peter come into Las Vagas and Carter chases them away with a shotgun, naked, Con says 'Put it away Jack, you know you won't use it', Peter adds 'The gun he means'. Class.
4) Carter goes to Bruby's house and says to the man 'Your a big man and your in bad shape, and for me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself'. Always misquoted by those who've heard of the film yet never watched it.
5) Carter finds where Keith lives and sees he's in bad shape so tosses him some money and says 'Get yourself some Karate lessons'.
6) With Margaret on the Bridge, holding her angrily, he mutters 'The Only reason I came back to this....crap house, is to find out who did it'. Classic!
