Sets & Wheels
Odd & Even Sets
Have you ever thought about odd and even numbers in your number combinations? Have you ever wondered if it makes any difference how many of each you use in your number combinations? If you have, then your instincts were telling you something. First of all, the odds are against an all odd number combination or an all even number combination being drawn as compared to a number combination with a better balance of each. Why? Because of how many there are of each type. Had you ever calculated them out, you would have known which type would have the better chance of being drawn on any given night. The type with more number combinations possible will be drawn much more often. There are only so many ways a number combination can be made up using odd and even numbers. 7 ways for all six number games.
Given the above information: Which odd/even set would you expect to be drawn more often? Which odd/even set would you expect to be drawn the least? If you say the 3odd/3even set should be drawn more than the others because there are more of them, you would be right. If you went so far as to say the 0odd/6even set should be drawn the least because there are less of that type than any other type, you would be right again. Given any number of drawings, we can calculate how many times each type of number combination should be drawn. Note that the calculations can be done long before the first drawing ever takes place. Now, you will see how many times each odd/even set is calculated to be drawn after a particular number of drawings.

That's actual history, the National lottery is played twice a week, these particular results cover a period of 378 Draws. The lottery player wants to have as many opportunities of winning as possible.With Lotto5 you can see how these combinations perform in the short term in fact any period of draws.
Had you been playing a 0 odd / 6 even type of number combination over this period, you would have had only 4 opportunities of winning. How long do you want to wait for your next opportunity of winning? If you value your money, you'll want to get as many opportunities of winning as possible! The number combination drawn each night will fall into one of these odd / even sets. Your job is to pick the right one. Do the odds prevail? Do the actual results tend to prove the calculated results? The facts speak for themselves.
Wheels
Wheeling systems provide a methodology for playing numbers and payoff maximization. When using a wheel you play more than the usual amount of numbers, therefore you have a better chance of matching the officially drawn numbers. A Lotto-Wheel is a set of combinations (games) which will guarantee a specific prize-goal, when you match a specificed amount of the officially drawn numbers. A good wheel will provide a full covering with the minimum amount of games (combinations) to play. The most known type of wheels are: Full wheels and Abbreviated wheels.
Five Characteristics of a wheel
To illustrate what is a wheeling system, I will use the following example:
Abreviated Wheel: 4/6 15 numbers, 21 games, for a pick 6 lotto
4 = The Guarantee (prize-goal):
The wheel mathematically guarantees that the VERY LEAST you will have one ticket with 4 winning numbers (if any 6 of the 15 numbers you play appear within the officially drawn numbers).
6 = The Matching Requirement:
This means that by choosing to play this wheel you need to have at least 6 of your 15 picks that will match the 6 officially drawn numbers. ONLY if you meet this requirement, you have a 100% guarantee of winning the prize goal.
15 =The numbers wheeled:
This is the group of numbers you choose to play. The wheel will cover all possible 6-numbers combinations necessary for the specified prize-goal and matching requirement, using number 01 to 14.
21= The Number of Games:
This is the total numbers of Games (6-numbers combinations) the wheel contains and that must be played if you want the wheel to perform as described.
Pick 6 = The type of lottery:
A wheel is also characterize by the type of lottery, in this example, all the games (combinations) inside the wheel have 6 numbers.
The differences between FULL and ABBREVIATED wheels
Full wheels
The purpose of a full wheel is to aim for the jackpot and multiple lower prizes. A full wheel always contains ALL possible combinations that can be made with the group of numbers wheeled. For example: a 12 numbers full wheel requires that you play 924 games to cover every possible combinations of 6 numbers.
Advantages of full wheels:
Disadvantage of full wheels: ·
Abbreviated wheels

The main purpose of an abbreviated wheel is to aim for a specific lower prize, such as second or third prize. As explained earlier with the example, a 15 numbers abbreviated wheels which guarentees at least one ticket with 4 winnings when 6 of your picks match the officially drawn numbers, in a pick 6 lotto, requires that you play 21 games, much less than the 5005 games contained in a full 15 numbers wheels.
An Abbreviated wheel will not guarantee more than its specified prize goal because it covers every combinations needed foy that prize but not for a higher prize.
Advantages of abbreviated wheels:
Disadvantages of abbreviated wheels:
What you loose with abbreviated wheels is the jackpot guarantee when the officially drawn numbers all appears in the group of numbers yot played (or wheeled), because you didn't play all possible combinations. However, you still greatly reduce the odds against you to win the jackpot.
