The Great British Model Soldier Show will once again be a major event for all model soldier enthusiasts, covering all types of model and toy figures, subjects, scales, styles and materials. The venue is in the centre of London and is easily reached by bus or underground, or for those travelling by car there is an underground car park beneath the hotel. The 2008 Great British Model Soldier Show will include all the features which are so popular with visitors, including:

Trade Stands

Always a popular feature. See a huge range of models, figures, kits and castings for sale.

Displays

See the best in military modelling and collecting on the display stands from BMSS branches and Special Interest Groups.

Demonstrations

Hints and tips from the experts on how to get the most from the hobby. Enjoy seeing leading modellers at work and talk to them about the hobby.

Competitions

The modelling competitions are open to all and are free to enter. Gold, Siver, Bronze and Highly Commended awards will be given. The classes are:
Class 1: Single foot figures up to 54mm standard size.
Class 2: Single foot figures above 54mm size.
Class 3: Single mounted figures, any scale.
Class 4: Vignettes; that is 2 or 3 figures (any scale) with a common theme mounted on a common base.
Class 5: Groups and dioramas, open or closed; that is 4 or more figures with or without associated equipment. Groundwork is expected but not mandatory.
Class 6: AFVs, softskins and artillery, any scale, with or without crew. Where a base is used this is to be simple, elaborate scenes should be entered in Class 5.
Class 7: Toy soldiers, any number up to a maximum of 30. These may be figures originally sold as toys or their modern equivalent. Figures may be converted and can be presented in any manner.
Class 8: Converted and scratchbuilt figures, any scale. A card describing the work done MUST accompany each entry.
Class 9: Busts. That part of the figure above the waist, which may include arms. Non-military entries are acceptable but no erotica.
Class 10: Non-military pieces of any type, excluding erotica.
Class 11: Junior class. Entrants must be under 16 on the day of the show. Entries may be single figures, groups, vehicles, etc. Fantasy war-game figures may be entered in this class.

The BMSS looks forward to welcoming all model soldier enthusiasts to this grand celebration of the military modelling hobby and is sure that the show will be a most enjoyable and interesting day for everyone. Admission is £3.50, (BMSS members £2.50). Accompanied children free.
