Wessex Report1000 Delegates
The Wessex Natural Law Party was represented at this year's convention by Mark Griffiths, William Treend and Zoe Kingston. It was the first time such a meeting has been held in Germany.A record 1000 delegates from over 60 countries attended the 5 day event at the Hotel Maritim conference centre, Bonn. The Natural Law Party is now formed in over 50 countries world wide including former Soviet bloc countries. Although yet to form its own Natural Law Party Russia was also represented at the convention.Verbal reports from over 20 Natural Law Parties were presented including details of new electoral successes in Yugoslavia, progress in the global campaign to ban genetically engineered food, as well as plans for natural health promotion in the Wessex region in the UK.The dangers of NATO expansion
The highlight of the convention was the press conference held on 18th July which received extensive international media coverage. The press conference was also attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps in Bonn as well as members of other political parties. In particular the press conference focused on the Natural Law Parties' regret over the recent proposals to expand NATO into former Warsaw Pact countries, and its own proposals to establish Vedic Peace Corps as part of a "prevention wing" within the military for a more cost effective and reliable strategy for securing stability in Europe. These proposals had been presented to the Secretary General of NATO at the NATO summit meeting in Madrid earlier in the month, as well as to the Presidents of the Czech Republic and Hungary.(for more details, including implications for Wessex region, see press release to Wessex media) The press conference also included a demonstration of Yogic Flying.Natural Law based Architecture and Land Use
Of particular interest to delegates at the convention were presentations from the United States detailing progress in plans to transform architectural practice and land use planning in America by introducing new concepts based on the profound understanding of the relationship between the built and natural environments and social and economic well-being provided by the ancient Vedic (consciousness based) Science of Sthapatya Veda.(for an introduction to the fundamental principles of Sthapatya Veda click here) Delegates had the opportunity to see a video report on the progress of a major Sthapatya Veda development now under construction in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. Reports were also given of similar developments now underway elsewhere in the United States.Development Initiatives
The conference concluded with a day long celebration at Maharishi University of Management, Vlodrop, on the Dutch-German border and resolutions to focus the Parties' efforts in promoting Natural Law based architecture for use in health and educational establishments, as well as in the domestic housing sector, in 1000 locations across the world in order to establish global health and prosperity on a more integrated level. It was announced that international development funds by successful developers are being established to assist this process at the local level.Efforts are now underway to bring these initiatives to fruition in the Wessex area as soon as possible.
