COULD JOB CUTS CLOSE THE HUB?

UP to six staff positions at Sleaford Hub craft centre look set to be axed after management revealed restructuring plans.
The Hub National Centre for Craft and Design opened less than three years ago in a converted seed warehouse in Navigation Yard.

A staff source told the Standard six jobs were being made redundant - four of the posts were being merged into two.

Staff have been asked to reapply for these positions. The fear is the workload on those that remain might be too great and the Hub could eventually close.

The centre is privately managed on behalf of North Kesteven District Council by Leisure Connection whose bosses claim a review of the service was required reflecting the opinions of customers.

Leisure Connection's regional manager Tracey Munford said: "The restructuring will mean the Hub will provide even better customer based activities and we will maintain the excellent service we are renowned for."

The company could not comment on any job cuts but emphasised it was more about restructuring than significant cuts.
