My Tank

I have a 55 Gallon planted freshwater aquarium. It has been inhabited for almost a year now. The tank is inhabited with tropical fish species that occur naturally in South America.

Here are some photos of the fish

Cardinal Tetra ( Population: 10)

Head and Tail Light Tetra (Population: 8)

Bolivian Ram (Population: 1)

Bristle-mouthed Catfish (Population: 1)

Not Yet Photographed

Peppered Corydora (Population: 1, Since departed)

Technical Details

The Tank was set up using a fishless cycle, details of which can be found at the following link ( http://www.tomgriffin.com/aquamag/cycle2.html ).

This method ensured that no fish were subjected to stress while the tank's chemical levels stabilised.

The Water supply in my area is very hard and Alkaline. As a result, all water added to the aquarium must first be boiled, then left to stand in peat for several days. The tank currently has a pH of 7.4.
