Welcome. I have set this page up to house any resources I develop for playing this new game from Decipher.

Decipher maintain a discussion board for discussion of this game. Weed out the negative rubbish and there are some good points and

suggestions. The link is from their site.

The following links are for documents I have written for use with LOTR. You are welcome to use them.

Character Sheet. This is my excel character sheet. Simple and spacious but not flashy or anything.

Rolling up Sheet. This is a summary of the main points of rolling up a character. This has now been updated thanks to

some points made by Doug from Decipher.

Combat in LOTR. This is a 2 sided player reference sheet. The idea is to use this in play to help in decided on actions to take.

Herbs and Healing in LOTR . Often the Healer is neglected in RPGs. I have fleshed out the Healing, Lore and Craft rules and invented some

Herb ideas that work with LOTR rules.

I welcome any suggestions and comments on errors.

My Campaign

I have started a campaign set in the 4th Age and in the Sea of Rhun area to the east of Mirkwood and North of Mordor.

Below is the map I am handing out to my players when we start. There is a reasonable amount of detail but the DMs map is much more detailed.

Chronicle Overview

It is Year 5 of the 4th Age

Sauron was defeated and the War of the Ring came to an End some 6-7 years ago. After that King Elessar (Aragorn) has spent the time clearing up after the war and rebuilding his kingdom . The ringbearers Frodo and Bilbo along with Elrond, Gandalf and Galadriel have departed for the undying lands. So ended the third age.

King Elessar has married Elrond’s daughter Arwen and has begun the process of strengthening Gondor. Attempts have been made to make peace with former enemies including the Corsairs of Umbar, The Haradrim and the Easterlings. These however are implacable in their hatred of Gondor and it has been necessary to fight some actions against these foes. In particular a strong military presence has had to be maintained along these borders.

Further threats to the security of the Reunited kingdoms come from the hoards of orcs, half orcs and uruks that still exist. Despite the losses at the Battles that ended the war there are many thousands still alive in Moria, Southern Mirk wood (despite the expansion of Lorien into these regions) and along the Mountains of Mordor. Some tribes have moved east and north and have formed alliances with the Variags and other human tribes.

There is another worrying rumour. Men speak of the Mouth of Sauron ,one of the lieutenants of the dark lord and a sorcerer himself as having survived the wars. He is said to be gathering the orcs to him and forging alliances with the easterlings.

The king has decided to expand his influence in these areas where once Gondor held sway. He is determined that Gondor’s boundaries at their highest point should be reached. Before a military operation or strong diplomacy is attempted however he wants to know more . The following notice was posted in all Gondor's cities :

Wanted : Individuals of courage and ability willing to take risk for the chance to gain renown and reward.

King Elessar is offering a bounty of 6 SP to any willing to undertake a reconnaissance of the lands to the East.

This will involve mapping and locating tribes and fortresses.

Bounties on offer to those willing to act as couriers to our allies in the region.

Report to the duty officer at Fort Theoden.

The Characters have decided to answer this offer and unknown to each other at this point  have joined a caravan traveling across

the wilderness to Fort Theoden. They are a days journey from Fort Theoden when...
