This part of the WEB site provides some of the
text and graphics used in a series of lectures (listed on the left) delivered to public
audiences in Finland. The lecture tour was part of the SLEEP WEEK (October 27 -
October 31, 1997), a week which focussed on the health problems associated with disordered
sleep and sleep disorders, particularly insomnia. It was inspired by Ruth Koskinen, the leader of
a charitable insomnia self-help group and hosted by Suomen Elämäntapaliitto ry - the
Finnish Association of Healthy Lifestyles. The lectures provide a basis from which to understand insomnia in particular. There are some sections on the WEB site which provide diversions (poetry, etc) and other sections which provide useful information for policymakers. Chris Idzikowski has been in active sleep research for more than two decades. The first decade focussed on the psychology of sleep, the second decade the clinical pharmacology of sleep, culminating in his book Serotonin, Sleep and Mental Disorders (1991). More recently his interest has turned to sleep disorders. For more information go to Who is Chris Idzikowski? |
