!!! 19--Tragic death of Mr. Oscar Wm. Pettitt. Mr. Pettitt, who had been riding on the back of a lorry, was found on the Lynn Road, close to the Railway crossing, with a severe injury to his head. He was removed to Addenbrooke's Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 44 years of age

21--Presentation, by the Littleport Liberal Association's Tennis Club, of a mahogany aneroid to Mr. C. W. Martin, the secretary

24--British Legion Band Fund Draw

27--Death of Mr. Frank Taylor, of 73, Wisbech Road, following severe injuries received in a motor cycle accident while motor cycling in Cambridge. He was 23 years of age

Music Successes--At the recent examination held at Cambridge in connection with Trinity College of Music, London, Edith Hannett and Helen Kaplin passed in the first steps division for pianoforte playing. Both were pupils of Miss E. Theobald

Women's Institute monthly meeting took the form of a Lantern Lecture on "The Passion Play." The lecturer was Canon C. J, Smith, of Ely.

14--At the Inter-Club Badminton Tournament held at Gray's Hall, Cambridge, the Littleport Club, with a total of 343 points, were the winners

18--Annual Tea of juvenile members of the Hereward Lodge of Oddfellows held in the Crown Inn Annual Meeting of Bowls Club

19--Badminton-Littleport ladies defeated Soham ladies by 5 rubbers to 4

News received by Mr. A. Stern, of Ten Mile Bank, of the death, in Australia, of his second son, Mr. Percy Stern, at the age of 37, Mr. Stern left Littleport early in 1914

5--The final round of the billiards cup, given by Mr. Henry Thompson, was played at the Constitutional Club and won by A. W. Thompson, who defeated B. Sparrow by 59 points

Music Successes-In the recent school examination held at Cambridge in connection with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, the following candidates were successful in the primary division for pianoforte playing: Honourable Mention, Edith Hannent ; Pass, Helen Kaplin. In connection with Trinity College of Music, London, the following candidates were successful in the first steps division : Honours, Edna Gotobed, Millie Thurston and Doris Palmer ; Pass, Edna Hobbs, Maud Moses, Fairie Dade, Kathleen Lester, Joan Pettitt, and Mary Eastwood All are pupils of Miss E. Theobald. Miss Doreen Stevens, pupil of Miss p. Gross, of Victoria Street, was also successful in the same division.

2--Meeting of Littleport Horticultural and Foal Show Society. A strong protest was made against the comments of the District Coroner (Mr G Martin Hall) at the inquest on Mr. B. E. Hopkins, the parachutist, who was killed at the Society's Sports

Bowls-Littleport v. Ely City on the Hempfield Green. The former won by 9 points

Completion of a series of Tournament held in connection with the Liberal tennis club. The winners were Miss Ambrose and Mr. J H Cox, Mrs. Youngs and Mr. S. Rogers, Mrs. Cox and Mr. O. Martin, and Mrs. Harlock and Mrs. Martin

2--Death of Mrs. R. Ayres at the age of 86 years. She was one of Littleport's oldest inhabitants

5--Fire at Mow Fen destroyed a straw stack and a straw elevator

6--Opening of winter session of Women's Bright Hour

9--Death of Mr. Elijah Wilding at Addenbrooke's Hospital after only a few day's illness. Mr. Wilding, who was only 28 years of age, lived at Crouchmoor Farm

12--Monthly meeting of Women's Institute. Mrs. Saberton, of Little Downham, gave a demonstration on bottling vegetables

16--A service of commemoration and re-dedication in connection with the Methodist Union held at Victoria Street Methodist Church

16--Workmen who were engaged upon the recent extension to the Transport & General Workers' Union Convalescent Home entertained to a dinner at the Grange

18-19--Harvest Festival Services at Victoria Street Methodist Church

19--Town Schools re-opened after a holiday of six weeks' duration

21--86 old people entertained to a tea and concert by members of the Women's Institute Harvest Festival Services commenced at Parish Church
