Some of Littleport's History

Littleport's new village sign, photographed here on the day of its official un-veiling 24th June 2001.
Designed by Jeremy Turner and erected in the village as part of the EEC 'Public art' project during the recent street refurbishment work. It is made of oak and stands over 8 feet high. It is situated at the junction of Ponts Hill and Wellington Street. Its carvings represent various events and people in Littleport's history.

Below is a picture of the old village sign, donated by the Women's Institute back in 1984, that the new one replaced. This was also situated at the same junction although not in exactly the same place as the junction has been re-designed.
The scene on it depicts the Littleport Riots of 1816. (picture courtesy of Ivan Coussell)
