The pre-match awards to Jimmy Dack for the Strikers' Club player of the season and to Andy Salako for player of the month, were the highlight of the afternoon. The match itself was a typical end of season affair. Bromley shaded the first half , only being denied by a fine Les Cleevely save, when Mark Tompkins headed goalwards from close range.
Sutton stepped up the pace slightly in the second half and in the 64th minute Andy Salako rounded off the season, by beating the Bromley keeper to the ball and stabbing home Sutton's winner. The goal came from a corner , Vansittart unsettling the Bromley defence, allowing Barry Laker to lay on Salako's goal.
