0 Sutton United VS Morecambe 1

Another game that Sutton should have had at least a point but United couldn’t manage to put the better possession to any use as Sutton fell six points behind the other relegation sides. In the first ten minutes Morecambe had two good chances to take the lead, on the fourth minute Justin Jackson was through on goal and shot under the keeper only to see his shot cleared off the line. The seventh minute saw Jackson get his second chance of the game when he went clear of the U’s defence but this time Howells was able to save his shot. The game didn't produce many chances in the first half as bad passing or shooting had the better of the game. Just before half time United had their first chance of the game when Nko Ekoku ran through the Morecambe midfield and chipped the ball over the top of the defence to Scott Forrester but the ball didn’t fall quickly enough and was easily cleared.

The second half showed little difference and it took fifteen minutes for the first shot on goal. Dave Harlow put his free kick in to the area for Ed Hutchinson to head home but the goal was disallowed for offside. On twenty-five minutes Morecambe took the lead when Howells wasn’t able to hold on to a cross and allowed John Norman to head home. Sutton kept on the pressure but were not able to take any of the chances as many of the shots went wide or were easily cleared by Morecambe. The best chance came when Hutchinson went clear of the defence and slipped the ball under the keeper but his shot rebounded of the post. In the last few minutes Watson knocked the ball over the keeper, the ball slowly fell toward the goal and needed an extra touch by a United player but they could only watch as the ball was cleared by Morecambe.

Elation Scott and Ed linking up well for an impressive performance.
