1 Sutton United VS Scarborough 2

Sutton will be disappointed not to have got at least a draw from this game. Sutton had an early chance on goal when Sammy Winston beat the Scarborough defender and put in a low cross to Aiden Newhouse who had time to control and pick his shot but he decided to strike first time and the keeper saved easily. A few minutes later United's defence was under pressure from Scarborough. Darren Roberts went through on goal and struck a good shot toward goal but Gareth Howells was able to push the ball away, the ball fell to Simon Betts who had enough time to shoot at goal but Howells was able to save again. Two minutes later Scarborough were attacking when Chris Tate ran through on goal only to drag his shot wide of the post. On twenty-two minutes Scarborough finally scored, the ball was crossed in to the area and yet again Sutton failed to clear the ball from cross allowing Gaerth Stoker to Stab the ball home. On the half-hour mark Richard Skelly was able to get a cross into the area and Ed Hutchinson rose well and headed passed the keeper but Shaun Rennison cleared off the line. Just before half time United were two goals down when Stoker crossed into the area from Betts to control and lay the ball off to Steve Brodie who hit the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

The second half took fifteen minutes to get going when Sammy Winston was put through on goal but the keeper was quickly out to smother the ball. United pulled a goal back in the seventy seventh minute. Paul Sears passed to Hutchinson on the edge of the area, who gave the ball to Harlow, he put the ball into the area and it was met by a diving Scott Forrester to nod the ball in to the net. United almost equalised a minute later when Sears’ cross was headed wide by Mark Watson. United had their last chance to pull level two minutes into injury time when the ball fell to Sears whose shot was pushed over by the goalkeeper to give Scarborough the win.
