Sutton battled hard for these 3 very valuable points,  against a rather dispirited Doncaster side. Winston had a chance a early as the 6th minute but he fired over. Doncaster looked strong up front but looked suspect at the back. Even so it was slightly against the run of play when Sutton took the lead. The ball fell to Winston who beat the keeper for WATSON to finish. Winston was booked for a foul in the 31st minute.Right on half time Skelly crossed well after good work on the wing, and Sears headed just wide.

       The opening of the second half saw Sutton's best spell of the game Dave Harlow won the ball and passed to Skelly whose cross was saved by the keeper.Doncaster's no. 3 Scott Maxfield had been causing Sutton problems all afternoon and He continued to do so, Danny Brooker had to be at his best to stifle the danger. On the 50th minute Hartford played the ball into the area and it was flicked on by Winston to Harlow, his shot beat the keeper but was cleared off the line by the number five. Sutton seemed content to sit back a bit and Doncaster's McIntyre started to pick his passes from the back line. After 63 minutes Skelly had to clear of the line from the number 10. Doncaster pressed forward and Sutton had their work cut out , most time they were able to clear the ball before the Doncaster attack became too dangerous. After 67 minutes Forrester replaced Watson. Then in the 78 min Ekoku came on for Winston. With doncaster pressing forward for the equaliser Ekoku was able to exploit the extra space with a few good runs, but Sutton were unable to extend the lead.
