Nationwide Conference
0 Sutton United VS Kidderminster Harriers 3
Congratulation's to Kidderminster on winning promotion to the third division and judging by the way they beat Sutton with a side that never hit top gear.
The game was only ten minutes old when the Harriers showed their touch in front of goal. Ian Clarkson was able to beat Richard Skelly to the ball and hit a low cross into the area, which missed the Sutton defence and the Kidderminster forward line but was put home by the incoming Barnett. For the next twenty minute the ball was knocked up and down the field with the odd half chance at either end but no fantastic strikes or saves. The game was brightened up when a clearance from a Kidderminster corner fell to Hadley who laid the ball off to the unmarked Mike Marsh who thundered the ball into the corner of the net with an unstoppable strike. The second goal seemed to wake Sutton and the home team was able to manage two good shots in the space of five minutes. The first chance came when Ed Hutchinson neatly slipped the ball between two defenders for Keith Rowlands to force a great save from Stuart Brock. The last chance of the half fell to Sammy Winston whose shot on the edge of the area was pushed over by Brock.
The second half had to wait thirty minutes for any decent chances; neither team was able to break through the defences as the game drew on.
The chances eventually came but only to Kidderminster. On seventy-five minutes Barnett was able to control a cross and beat Howells but the shot rebounded from the post. Ten minutes later the Harriers finished the job when and cross from the left was controlled and fired home by Hadley to secure the win.
