1 Sutton United v Kingstonian 1

Sutton and Kingstonian need a result in the second leg after the one all draw at Gander Green Lane. The ground was filled with loud support for both sides, the crowd only had to wait four minutes for their first goal of the game when Sammy Winston was put through on a one on one with the Kingston keeper and the Sutton forward lobbed the ball over the stranded keeper to give Sutton a early lead. Three minutes later Nko Ekoku again put Sammy through on goal but the keeper came off his line quick enough to take the ball from the United forward. Sutton continued their great start to the game when Nko gained possession of the ball and fed it through to Aiden Newhouse, who turned a K’s defender and took a shot from the edge of the area and forced a fine save from Farrelly in the Kingston goal. Kingstonian did have a few half chances in the first thirty minutes but nothing that the United defence couldn’t deal with, United kept going with the early pressure and on twenty five minutes Aiden found Sammy on the wing, Winston managed to hold the ball up for Jimmy Dack to cross into the area for Nko to head toward goal only to see his shot pushed over the bar by the Keeper. Kingston supporters had to wait until thirty five minutes for the first decent chance on goal when their number eight beat two United players and manages to slide the ball under Gareth Howells but the shot rebounded off the post the ball was hit back into the area but it was cleared quickly by the defence, after the ball was scrambled around the goal.

The second half was a different story for both teams, as Kingstonian had to find the goal which could make the second leg even more open. Through the second half Kingstonian were the better side but due to bad shooting Kingstonian couldn’t find any thing to equal the score. The first half hour Sutton kept the lead because of three great saves from Howells, when Kingstonian were through on goal. In the sixty eighth minute Kingstonian won a free kick on the edge of the area, the free kick was deflected by the defensive wall and Howells came to punch the ball away but the ball was knocked toward goal for Harris to head home to make the score one all.
