F.A Umbro Trophy Semi Final Second Leg

              Out classed, out played, out shone and out of the trophy. Kingstonian blew Sutton away, this performance showed why Sutton are in the relegation zone and with performances like this even the most optimistic U's fans must now feel Ryman league football beckons next season. Kingstonian were first to every ball with a Sutton player a few paces behind , although Sutton did start brightly when Keith Rowlands crossed the ball into the area for Hutchinson to head toward goal but the ball flew wide of the target. The Wembley dream was soon ripped down faster than the stadium will be this summer, when a good cross from the right wing was volleyed home with a fierce shot into the bottom right corner of the night net by Colin Lucket to start the nightmare for Sutton. Two minutes later the Kingstonian number eleven ( Sorry the tannoy system at Kingsmeadow isn't the best so I couldn't get the team changes) ran thru on goal from a good thru ball from the centre of midfield but his shot was saved by Howells. On the twenty fourth minute Rowlands brought down the K's number eight on the edge of the area, the number eight got up to strike the free kick inches over the bar. United were soon to be further behind when Pitcher was able to cross with out being challenged by the U's, the cross was headed home by Lucket for his second of the game.

           The second half didn't change much for United and it took only six minutes for Kingstonian took increase their lead to three when Simba headed home from Harris' cross, after good play from Akumoah, unlocked the static United defence. Sutton conceded the fourth goal on the sixty forth minute again from the head of Simba . The fifth goal came from a Wingfield free kick on the sixty seventh minute which seemed to surprise Howells in the United goal. At this point I would like to tell the linesman who raised his flag for offside when the free kick was taken that once you make a decision you stick with it even if the ball end s up in the back of the net.Pitcher finished of the rout in the eighty fifth minute to send United crashing out of the trophy totally embarrassed by a devastatingly bad performance.
