No it’s not a mis-print we really did score seven goals. What a great way to break the unlucky spell that haunted us from the start of this year.

The game didn’t really get started until the twenty-second minute when Sutton won a corner and Danny Bolt ran over to take it to start an impressive display from him. Bolt’s corner fell to Haworth who headed down for Chris Boothe to stab home from close range. Three minutes later it was Danny Bolts free kick that fell to Paul Whitmarsh who was in so much space and was able to control and fire the ball into the top of the net passed Cleevley. Haworth came close to adding to the goal tally when the ball fell to him just inside the area but his shot went wide. Dulwich pulled a goal back when a cross from the right wasn’t defended at all and allowed ex Sutton player Paul Sears enough room to put his header into the net. Both teams had a few half chances with Dulwich coming close to equalising when Nartey wasn’t able to poke the ball home after the ball was allowed to bounce across the face of the goal. Danny Bolt also saw a shot from outside of the area go narrowly over the top of the bar. That didn’t matter because two minutes later Bolt was able to unleash Nko Ekoku who beat Gus Hurdle for pace and cross the ball into the area to Paul Whitmarsh who again found loads of space inside the area and headed the ball back across the face of the goal to Rob Haworth who took two controlling touches before firing home to score his first of the game.

The first fifteen minutes of the second half you wouldn’t have known Dulwich were the team that were three one down as they attacked the Sutton goal but could only manage a few half chance nothing of which troubled Tommy Dunn too much. Sutton soon got back on track. Nko’s ball across the face of goal was left by the defence and Les Cleevley almost allowing Haworth his second goal. The Dulwich players managed to clear the ball but gave away a free kick straight away, Danny Bolt took the free kick and struck a curling ball over the top of the defenders and Cleevley for Sutton’s fourth of the game. Sutton again extended their lead six minutes later when Richard Horner ran from the defence with the ball and laid it off to Danny Bolt who turned the last defender and chipped Cleevley from the edge of the area. Dulwich were close to adding to their only goal when a cross from the right was headed toward goal by Joe Nartey but saw his effort saved by Dunn. Number six came with fifteen minutes left to go when Danny Bolt ran down the wing and crossed for Rob Haworth to head passed Cleevley who looked uncomfortable when dealing with crosses all day. The final goal was well worked involving four Sutton players. Nko Ekoku ran with the ball after winning it in defence he then played a good one two with Dave Harlow. Nko continued his run before playing the ball to Danny Bolt, Bolt was able to open up some space for Matt Gray to run into. Gray played the ball back to Bolt who turned one defender and slipped the ball under Cleevely for his hat trick. Sutton will now look to start a good run of results starting on Tuesday with Enfield who are still close to relegation.
