Ryman Premier Division

Grays Athletic   1  v   Sutton United 2

Sutton just did enough to deserve today's victory. Although it did start badly when eight minutes into the game and against the run of play Grays went one up thanks to a goal by Danny Hazle. The goal came when Rikky Hazle beat Ryan Gray to put in a low cross for Danny Hazle to stab home. On eighteen minutes a Dave Harlow free kick was whipped in toward Danny Hodges who just saw his header go over. Twelve minutes later Harlow again flicked the ball over the defence but this time it was Paul Harford who headed wide. United then thought they had pulled level when Nko's cross was bundled home by Harford but the goal didn't stand because of a push on a defender. Just before half time United had one last chance when Danny Bolt's cross flew over every one in the area and landed for the on coming Westcott who's first time shot was blasted over.

Grays had their best chance of the game when a cross came in from the right was headed toward goal by Rikky Hazle which forced a good save from the relatively untroubled Howells. Twenty minutes into the second half Danny Bolts cross into the area found Joe Nartey who's header rebounded off the post and was cleared, but only after the ball had crossed the line for Sutton's equaliser. Eight minutes later Nko's through ball to Bolt allowed Danny a good strike at goal, which was well saved. The resulting corner was headed on to the post by Hodges. Ten minutes from time United took the lead as Ryan Grays cross fell to Paul Sears who saw his header loop over the keeper and into the back of the net.

Elation Great passing and being able to keep going until the end.

Deflation Not getting enough balls forward for the strikers.
