Cowley Commits

The Coventry Blaze ice hockey team are delighted to confirm that exciting young prospect, Russell Cowley, has committed himself to the team for the 2002-2003 season.

The 18 year old split his time last season between the Blaze and English National Premier League outfit, Swindon Lynx, but will be seen in the blue of Coventry this year full time.

In his 32 games with the Blaze last season, Cowley picked up 5 goals and 6 assists, but won praise from everyone at the Blaze for his potential. The skilful youngster will certainly play a bigger part in the FBNL campaign that starts in September.

Blaze Head Coach, Paul Thompson, is happy to have Cowley back on the roster :-

"I really do think this lad has a great future in the game, he is a confidant young man who will do what it takes to improve his skills. Russell has a special gift in that he really does see the ice well and can make plays that surprise us all. Its my job to improve his all round game, as I see Russell being a key member of the team this season."
