August 15Tait in to Fire BlazeThe "High and Mighty" Coventry Blaze are delighted to announce that they have completed the signing of one of the top British players in the Country. Nottingham trained Ashley Tait will be joining the Skydome based outfit for the 2002-03 season after agreeing terms with the ambitious British National League side. Tait has played at the top level in Britain throughout his career with the exception of two seasons in the late 1990's spent with Hull in the BNL. Having played for Nottingham in four Superleague seasons he is one of the most experienced home grown players on the circuit and has been a consistent scorer even at the ISL level. Last season saw Tait collect 7 goals and 15 assists from 49 games for the Panthers. Recently turned 27, standing 6'1" and weighing in at 175 lbs, Tait ranks amongst the most successful British qualified players around. Tait has played for Coach Paul Thompson before, at international level, for the Great Britain national team over the past two seasons and will undoubtedly be a major factor in the Blaze offence this season. Thompson confirmed:- "This is a very, very, big signing for Coventry. I have been working on getting Ashley's signature for a while now and to say I'm delighted is an understatement. "Ashley will make us a much more complete hockey team." Tait also commented "I am looking forward to playing for the Blaze and working with Thommo again, now at club level. It's going to be a competitive league again with a lot of quality in the BNL." |
