Dear Miss Wreford-Brown

The news of your brother's wound will have reached you already, I fear it is a very serious wound, chiefly owing to shock and loss of blood.

Luckily the regimental doctor was in the trench when he was wounded and was able to attend to him at once and he has every chance.

The shell blew a great deal of his left thigh of … if he gets through it will no doubt have to be amputated … he is not suffering as much pain as far as I can gather … I wish I could give out more hope.
