The ring of three bells had to be removed from the tower during 2003 to allow essential repair work to be undertaken. The opportunity was taken to rehang the bells and augment to a ring of five and the Trust donated a second-hand bell to the project. Shortly after completion of the work towards the end of 2003, interest was expressed in augmenting to six. A bell acquired by the Trust from a stall at the 2003 Heddington Steam Rally has been deemed suitable by the bellhanger and it was hung during 2004.

The ring of five bells was augmented to six with the addition of a bell acquired from an architectural salvage yard in Hemel Hempstead. The modern Whitechapel bell initially appeared to be a century older but careful examination showed it was cast in the twentieth century.

The ring of three bells have been augmented to six. The original second bell (of three) was cast by John Smith of Chesterfield in 1815 to a long waisted profile. This bell has been re-located by the Trust to Lisvane, Cardiff and has been hung for chiming. The Trust located two second-hand bells which are now the treble and second of the ring. One of these was the

treble of the pre-millennium ring of four at Shellingford and was replaced as part of the augmentation scheme to a ring of six bells. The bells were dedicated on 26^th September 2004.

Four old bells were replaced by modern new bells to create a ring where all the bells have a similar tonal characteristic.
The old C & G Mears second and Matthew Bagley third were used to augment the ring of three to five at Stoughton, Sussex. They were an exact match and fitted without re-tuning.

The old Matthew Bagley sixth bell has been installed for chiming at the new church of St Michael, Tividale, Staffordshire. The old Matthew Bagley fourth bell was acquired by a bell-hanger and sold to a church in the USA.
