Patterned

The weight at Col 1 is uncommon, although a few others are known using a "feathered" design. The canes in this weight are matched to other Vasart items.

The two inner weights are very good quality and could easily be thought to be by Paul Ysart. In fact, both were sold as probable Paul Ysart items, but inspection of the canes has shown them to be Vasart. Also, when compared to Paul Ysart examples of this design, these do not have the single cane at the outer edge between each roundel.

The item in Col 4 could have been included in the "Horizontal Twist" category. However, the twists are not very twisted (!) and the main focus is the group of spaced canes. The quality of canes as well as the overall working are quite poor, but the design is very unusual.
