A lampwork and millefiori butterfly
is set over a clear ground and is enhanced by a garland of pink and blue canes
separated by short lengths of filigree with aventurine core. The body of the
butterfly is formed from gold aventurine with a thin coating of translucent
green glass. It has a red head with orange antennae tipped in red. The wings
are constructed from flattened canes, the upper pair being orange, white and
green and the lower ones orange and tan with a white core.
Yellowed glass indicates 1940s
period. UV tests confirm pre-Caithness.
